Professor Hamilton picked up his blue fountain pen again today and recorded his activities. He taught classes at Albright College in the morning and afternoon. “In the evening I presided over the Junior-Senior Oratorical Contest,” he wrote. “An interesting series of talks.”

The professor was not a movie-goer, but plenty of people in Reading were, and they turned out for a three-day return engagement of the Oscar-winning film It Happened One Night at the State Theater. Paid subscribers can read on about the film, which won all five major Academy Awards — best actress, best actor, best director, best picture and best adapted screenplay — a feat that would not be matched until One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in 1975.

The poster from the movie was accessed through Wikimedia Commons.
