Professor Hamilton's Diary: Oct. 17, 1935
They hear discussion of 'Ethiopian question'; newspaper opines on League of Nations
The day was a typical one of hustle and bustle for the Hamilton family. The professor taught classes and continued researching newspaper names for the publicity on his forthcoming book, Margaret took Mary Elizabeth to the doctor for an X-ray of her injured arm (“Result: nothing out of place!”) and went to her evening ensemble class. Later that evening, with the children tucked away and supposedly a babysitter on hand, the Hamiltons attended the International Relations Club meeting at Albright College.
“Informed discussion on the Ethiopian question,” he wrote. Paid subscribers can read on about what the club members concluded.
The cartoon above, published in 1918, illustrated the opinion of many in Europe when the United States refused to join the League of Nations. It was accessed via Wikimedia Commons.
