Professor Hamilton had his usual teaching duties to attend to today. He also handled some business for his late sister Irene’s estate. But what is interesting to me is this: “Wrote out a statement on neutrality to share for I.R.C. broadcast.” I assume I.R.C. is short for the International Relations Club.

Sidney Smith, the popular and successful creator of the “The Gumps” cartoon strip, was killed in an auto accident near Chicago, having just signed a lucrative multi-year contract with a newspaper syndicate.
