On this Saturday, Professor Hamilton taught his morning classes as usual, then took his wife and children to lunch at the Thomas Jefferson Tea Room, one of their favorite places. His sister Rose and her ubiquitous companion Edna arrived that afternoon and “we spent all afternoon getting dinner and entertaining them,” he wrote.
