“At home all day working about the house,” Professor Hamilton wrote. Mr. Neuroth finished painting, but they still kept Mary Elizabeth upstairs because of her cold. He typed a preface for his book on early New York printers and publishers and wrote a letter.

In the evening Margaret went to her first ensemble music class of the new academic year, and he got the children into bed. When she came home, they “worked about the house, putting things in order.” How nice and fresh it must have looked, with a new coat of paint on the walls and varnish on the floors!

In this Harris & Ewing photograph taken in February 1936, Huey Long’s widow, Rose, smiles and waves to newspaper reporters after being sworn in as senator. She served out the remainder of his term, which ended in January 1937. The photo is being offered on eBay.
