After learning that a faculty meeting at Albright College had been postponed until tomorrow evening, Professor Hamilton made a snap decision to go to New York today. He hurriedly drove to the bank to get some cash, then hit the road. “All went well until I got a flat tire in Bethlehem and had to buy a new tire,” he wrote. “I finally reached Bronxville at 9:45 where [his in-laws] were surprised to see me.” I guess he had not bothered to phone ahead!
