With Lowell working the 3-11 p.m. shift this week, Thelma had long afternoons to herself. Fortunately, she seems to have become fast friends with Vargie, who I believe lived in the same building with her husband Joe, and with Mrs. Wiener, another tenant whose husband worked in defense. The three ladies went to the National theatre to see a movie. In the evening they did a lot of visiting back and forth until Lowell got home.
