Lowell worked in the garden today. Thelma said she “watched.” After dinner, they gathered worms for a fishing trip planned for the next day and sat on the porch and talked. She says “we all” gathered worms, so this may have been a group activity of the other couples they had befriended in their apartment building. What fun they seem to be having!

It was Hitler’s birthday, which he celebrated at his Bavarian retreat while the Allies delivered some unpleasant gifts. You can read about it by upgrading to a paid subscription — someone did that yesterday and it sure made this writer’s hear sing! It costs just 16 cents a day, and you can not only read all the diary entries going forward, you can go back to January 1 and catch up on anything you missed! What a deal!
