Thelma and Lowell's Diary: April 29, 1943
Thelma and Vangy ride the merry-go-round; President Roosevelt praises 'Rosie the Riveter'
Thelma and her girlfriend Vangy spent some time together today, doing grocery shopping in the morning and then, after the mid-day meal (which she consistently calls “dinner”), walked over to Audubon Park to watch the animals and take a spin on the merry-go-round. I can just imagine these two young women giggling at their silliness! I could not find a picture of the Audubon Park merry-go-round, but this one of the same ride at Coney Island, New York is from an eBay dealer.
President Roosevelt heaped praise on the women working in the defense industry at a press conference today. Consider upgrading to paid subscription to read about it.
