Lowell got his paycheck today, netting $91.98. (That’s almost $1,600 in current funds.) They paid the rent and went on a spending spree downtown, buying:

  • Bulb, clippers, sharpener and magazine

  • Combs, face cream, album stickers

  • Hat pin, bra, Rit dye, shoe insoles, oil cloth

  • Toothpaste

These expenditures totaled $4.48, or about $78.

The Times-Picayune announced it was accepting nominations for an annual Loving Cup awarded to a citizen who has “done the greatest altruistic service for the city” during the previous year.
