As they often do on Sundays, Thelma and Lowell slept late and then read the funny papers in the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Lowell was off today, so they enjoyed an afternoon visit to nearby Audubon Park and that evening walked over to the Prytania Theatre to see a movie.

The film was Lady of Burlesque, starring Barbara Stanwyck. It was based on a book with a much more provacative title, The G-String Murders, written by the reigning queen of burlesque Gypsy Rose Lee. The publicity photo of star Barbara Stanwyck in a spider-themed costume is being offered on eBay.
