You got to love Vangy and Thelma. They did their grocery shopping in the morning, and then sewed in the afternoon “on our gathered skirts.” I wonder if they ever found that used sewing machine, or if they are doing all this sewing by hand? This cute 1940s pattern for gathered skirts with three styles of pockets might have appealed to busy housewives like Vangy and Thelma. It’s being offered by a dealer on eBay. The amount of material required — two yards for the plain skirt — also indicated a loosening of war-time rationing.
