Lowell had an early work schedule this Sunday, so Thelma read the funnies in the newspaper and went back to bed. She had a day to herself after she got up, finishing the newspaper, buying a magazine for 15 cents and reading it in the park, and then going to see a movie. When Lowell got home that night at 8:30, they ate “lunch.”

What magazine was Thelma reading? Weekly magazines such as Time, the Saturday Evening Post, and Life sold for a dime. Reader’s Digest cost a whopping 25 cents. Knowing Thelma as I do, I’m betting on a woman’s magazine. To read on, pamper yourself and upgrade to a paid subscription by clicking below. It costs only slightly more per day than Thelma’s magazine did!
