Yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s entry were all written in pencil and were very brief. Lowell listed expenses today of rides, eats, hospitalization insurance, which cost 50 cents, and tooth powder (what happened to the Pepsodent?) which cost 40 cents. He (or Thelma) missed a sale at Walgreen’s, which was offering the 50-cent size of Dr. Lyon’s Tooth Powder for just 33 cents (limit one) in an ad in the Times-Picayune. And dig this ad for Camels cigarettes — with Santa Claus on the box no less!

Paid subscribers can read on for other items of interest in that day’s Times-Picayune, including the extreme reaction over a rejected wedding proposal. On Dec. 30 and 31, I will reveal what happened to Thelma and Lowell after the war, so sign up now to get the full story.
