As Thelma and Lowell’s diary entries dwindle away, the only unusual thing in their expense list today is “oranges,” specified under “eats.” This amusing postcard, mailed in 1946, compares the sunny South where the oranges grow to the frozen North, where the winter “crop” is snowballs. It is offered by a dealer on eBay.
