Lowell got up so late this morning he had to take a taxi to work — which cost a whopping 84 cents vs. his usual 14 cents. “Bought a nice Christmas tree at Hills,” he wrote. It cost just 50 cents! Thelma washed clothes and made spaghetti soup for supper. They received a Christmas package from his mother (“7 for each of us.”)

Americans were observing the second anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in many ways. This cardboard display of vintage buttons is being offered on eBay.
