Thelma and Lowell's Diary: Feb. 10, 1943
They pay their income tax and see the movie 'Hitler's Children'
As Lowell was again working from 3 to 11 p.m., the couple went to town in the morning. He paid his income tax — $167.34, equivalent to $2,800 in today’s money — and she did a little shopping. Her purchases included toothpaste, a zipper and some lace, and sanitary pads. They treated themselves to lunch at Morrison’s Cafeteria and saw the documentary Hitler’s Children at the Orpheum theater before Lowell went to work and Thelma went home.
The lobby card for the film, made by RKO Studios, is from the collection of the U.S. Holocaust Museum.
