Thelma and Lowell rented a pair of bicycles for 50 cents today and went riding through Audubon Park. Lowell got his paycheck, and they paid their rent of $16.25, which is about $280 in current dollars. The postcard showing an elephant at the Audobon Park zoo “begging for a peanut” was found on eBay.
