Once again, Thelma’s entry in her diary was just an expense list. She bought a newspaper, anklet socks, tape, a colander for the kitchen, and Kotex napkins, and spent money on streetcar rides and eats.

Since we know she bought a copy of the Times-Picayune for five cents, we’ll peruse the headlines, many of which dealt with the bravery of the Russians and the Russian army, at that time essential allies in the war against the Axis powers.
