Thelma and Lowell's Diary, Jan. 26, 1943
News of Casablanca Conference is revealed; Casablanca and 'Casablanca'
The news blackout of the Casablanca Conference was lifted today, and in one of her few acknowledgements of the war, Thelma wrote in her diary, “Announced the meeting of Mr. Churchill and Pres. Roosevelt in Africa. They had a 10-day secret meeting to discuss and plan future war moves.”
Casablanca would become a familiar household name that bolstered the appeal of a Warner Brothers movie that is now better known than the conference. The photo above is a screenshot of the Casablanca trailer, accessed through Wikimedia Commons.
