Thelma and Lowell's Diary: Jan. 27, 1943
They see the movie 'Girl Trouble'; Errol Flynn had plenty
It was a cold day in New Orleans with a forecast of below freezing weather ahead. Lowell went downton to get a hair cut, whichcost 50 cents. (Whatever happened to “shave and a hair cut, two bits?” Must be the war-time inflation!) The couple spent another 46 cents on matinee tickets to the movie Girl Trouble, a comedy starring Latin heart-throb Don Ameche and Joan Bennett.
Actor Errol Flynn was at the center of a sensational trial in Hollywood, charged with statutory rape. To read about it, you’ll need to be a paid subscriber. It costs just 16 cents a day to upgrade. Thanks for reading.
