They spend a 'swell' day at the park; amazing tale of survival in a lifeboat told
It was a Sunday afternoon, the temperature reached 92 degrees, and on what Thelma called “really a swell day,” she and Lowell walked over to Audubon Park. They spent 14 cents on rides, including the carousel and “the whip,” then walked over to the zoo and watched the antics of the monkeys and the feeding of the seals. The vintage postcard showing the park’s sea lion pool and the Hygeia Fountain is being offered on eBay.
That evening they saw the Fred Astaire-Rita Hayworth movie You Were Never Lovelier.
