Thelma and Lowell slept late, did some banking and minor shopping in the afternoon — envelopes, pants, socks, towels and dishcloths — then visited their friends Ruth and Jim Southerland and saw their new baby. “The baby is sure cute — slept all the time,” Thelma said approvingly. Was she thinking about having a baby herself?
