Lowell rose early to do some disking. In a rather disjointed entry, he wrote, “Around 11 Ralph came and we went to the lake fishing. Esther fell in. Went to Sandusky before. Stayed there overnight.”

Sandusky, located on Lake Erie, is about 75 miles from Dunkirk. The postcard above, found on eBay, shows a popular gathering place on the lake. It was mailed in 1949.
