Thelma and Lowell spend the afternoon in the nearby town of Findlay. “We both got our teeth fixed and I got my glasses,” he wrote. They did some visiting and then went to Carey, another village in the vicinity, and “watched the people.” Carey is the home of an important Catholic church, the Shrine and Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, which has welcomed pilgrims since 1875.
