It was the last day of Lowell’s stay in Ohio. Thelma was going to extend her visit home for another week. He enjoyed a final round of visits with relatives — Uncle Preston, Elma and Dan, Aunt Ova, Aunt Ethel — and they churned ice cream. He stayed up until well after midnight when it was time to catch the train in Carey.
