Lowell’s entries tend to be rather cryptic. Today he wrote, “Saw Gadberry — promotion and stayed at office all afternoon.” Did he get a promotion? Apparently so, as it is reflected in his next paycheck. An extra $6.24, which translates into $110 in today’s terms. Not bad!
