It was the last full day of Thelma’s parents visit before they returned to their farm in Ohio. Lowell worked an early shift and Thelma stayed up after he left, washing her hair and then making waffles for breakfast. Her mother did some ironing while she went to the grocery store. In the afternoon they walked again to the Audubon Park Zoo to watch the animals. When Lowell got home that evening, they played pinochle and had popcorn and Cokes. This time Lowell and her father won.

It was both St. Patrick’s Day and the wedding anniversary of President and Mrs. Roosevelt.
