A new week began and with it a change in shifts for Lowell. He worked 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thelma devoted part of the day to washing clothes. She spent twenty-eight cents on laundry. They had a late dinner when he got home from work and listened to the radio.

The nation’s newspapers reported on speeches given the day before by German dictator Adolf Hitler and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. To read about the speeches you will need to be a Bootie, that is a paid subscriber. It costs just 16 cents a day to give it a try. Thanks for reading!
