Lowell had a shift change today, working from 3 to 11 p.m. Thelma spent the afternoon playing pinochle and visiting with her friend Mrs. Wiener. It seems the two had a sandwich and coffee for supper, then went to the National Theatre. The film playing was an anti-Nazi thriller called Berlin Correspondent, but Thelma was more excited about winning a door prize of $3.00. “We had sodas to celebrate,” she wrote.
