Today was a busy one for Thelma and Lowell. Because he worked second shift, they saw a movie at the Saenger Theatre at 11 a.m. It was the musical Hello, Frisco, Hello starring Alice Faye. For once, Thelma made a comment about the movie: “It was swell.” The had lunch and shopped, and after Lowell left for work helma had an awful headache “and didn’t do much.”

Two pages of the Times-Picayune newspaper were devoted to movies featuring big-names stars such as Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, Marlene Dietrich, and James Cagney. To find out what was showing, you’ll need to be a paid subscriber, but it only costs 16 cents a day to sign up. You can cancel any time. Be a Bootie!
