It was a Friday and Thelma and BFF Vangy went to the market early in the morning and scored some beef roasts. Thelma spent the rest of the afternoon cooking. “Didn’t do anything unusual in evening,” she wrote.

At the White House, a movie night was held with the showing of the blatantly pro-Soviet film Mission to Moscow, based on the book of that name by former ambassador Joseph E. Davies.
