It was their eight-month wedding anniversary. For the first time, Thelma mentioned that Lowell is trying to get into the Navy. “Took his physical for Navy off. today,” she wrote, which I am guessing means he was trying to get into officer training rather than enlisting or waiting to be drafted. She and Vangy went to the grocery store, had a Coke, and bought magazines.
