Thelma spent some more of Lowell’s paycheck today, buying shorts, pictures (this may have meant developing film) and sending a telegram to Chuck, a relative in Ohio, who had also just turned 23. The birthday had sneaked up on them and the telegram set them back $1.04. Thelma and Vangy also walked over to Henry Clay Street to see a fire that was raging.
