Even though Lowell had worked late the day before, he and Thelma got up at 6:30 a.m. and headed to the meat market and grocery store, probably to get a jump on the good buys during this period of food rationing. They went back to sleep for a few hours after coming home. After he left for work, she and Vangy saw a movie (“not much good”), enjoying strawberry sundaes afterward. “Waited up for the fellows,” she concluded. How fortunate that their husbands were working the same shift!
