For the first time in months, Thelma and Lowell went to a church service. They don’t say where. After dinner they went to visit their friend Ruth Southerland. Her husband Jim’s mother was ill in North Carolina and he had gone home to see her. At home, Lowell watered the garden and they listened to the radio that night.
