Scrap paper drive begins in NOLA schools; man questioned in butcher's murder
Thelma and Lowell are silent today, their only notation being 14 cents spent on rides. The murdered butcher was back on the front page, above the fold, though. Other news included the announcement of a scrap paper drive being conducted by the public schools.
Scrap paper drives were held throughout the country during World War II, as the paper could be recycled into boxes for shipping military supplies. This poster originated in Philadelphia and is part of the collection of the Library of Congress.
