Our young couple bought some stamps (probably for all those Christmas cards they have been writing) and spent $3.35 on food (probably for the next day’s Thanksgiving dinner). Did they read about General George S. Patton’s apology for slapping the young soldier with battle fatigue? It ran on the front page of that day’s Times-Picayune.
