They buy a sugar 'bowel'; Mrs. Roosevelt goes to the theatre
As is often the case after Lowell got paid, they did some shopping today, buying cards, iodine, a newspaper, and what they originally wrote down as a “sugar bowel and spoon.” Fortunately they crossed out the “e,” making the purchase a sugar bowl. This pretty sugar bowl is in the Franciscan Ware pattern Desert Rose, which was popular in the 1940s. It is being offered on eBay.
