Thelma and Lowell had nothing in their diary today except financial posts about his paycheck of $85.74 — of which he took out $18.75 for a war bond — and minor expenditures.

The rest of the city was abuzz about the arrival of a trainload of Hollywood celebrities, dubbed “the Cavalcade of Stars,” who had come to New Orleans to boost war bond sales. The facsimile $100 war bond above and the theme of the third drive was found on Wikimedia Commons.
