Thelma and Lowell's Diary: Sept. 5, 1943
They continue celebrating; she gives him a subscription to Reader's Digest
After their late night at the Blue Room, Thelma and Lowell slept in this Sunday morning. They reveled in the anniversary gifts they received — $11 from Lowell’s mother and sister to spend how they pleased, a hamper and a cake from her parents — as well as several cards. That afternoon they went uptown to see the war movie So Proudly We Hail, and then had dinner at Gluck’s at 124 Royal Street in the French Quarter. This vintage menu from now defunct Gluck’s is from the website Vintage Menu Mania. The writer Tennessee Williams had a stint as a waiter there.
