I am so sorry to hear this, Mrs. Benoit. I am glad you have a daughter who will share her home with you. You may not be a long-time subscriber to this newsletter. If so, you don't know that it started as a collaborative project between myself and my father and son, who are both economists. Some of the long-time readers signed on because of the economic commentary they wrote. I continue to post my father's columns because it is of interest to them. By the way, are you still quilting? I am!

I have not yet read this article. I find all remarks about the economy irritating. There is no sense of reality in reading about economic theory or predictions or predicaments. The actual state of my American economy is pathetic. I am elderly and disabled. My total income is $1200. a month from Social Security. I have had to give up my home and go to live with myt daughter because I can no longer afford lot rent, ins. and all the rest. I get a small amount of SNAP benefits: I go to the market and see cereal at $7.00 a box, bread at $8.00 a loaf (gluten free as I am allergic to wheat). I spend around $100 a month on over-the-counter products I need, mostly prescribed by my Drs., I have Health Ins. and get some gov't help with Medicare premiums, but my medical copays in the past 9 months total $3000. So please don't tell me the economy is good. I'm just fortunate that I'm not trying to feed a family anymore.
